New York City is one of the most exciting cities in the world. It boasts a wealth of free attractions and outdoor experiences; there's something for everyone in NYC! The city has it all, from the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building to Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge. We’ve narrowed these interesting places down to six free attractions that are a must-visit.

6 Free Attractions in New York City

1. Central Park

When New York City is mentioned, one of the first things that come to mind is the famous Central Park. In the centre of Manhattan, Central Park is arguably the most famous park in the world, with around 25 million visits each year. It is enjoyable to visit at any time of year. You won't be disappointed with what Central Park has to offer, whether it's spring cherry blossom blooms, fall foliage, or blanketed in a layer of snow!

2. Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal is said to be "Manhattan's only remaining great gateway."

The ceiling art is amazing and it's a terrific area for people to visit. Since its revitalization, Grand Central has drawn visitors and locals alike, with quick snacks and delicacies in the Grand Central Market, gourmet dining in the Dining Concourse, and free arts programmes in Vanderbilt Hall. After finishing your tour at Grand Central, you can take the S line right into Times Square!

3. Times Square

The first important thing you should know is that Times Square is not really a square. But one thing is certain: you cannot visit New York without visiting Times Square! It's a fascinating neighbourhood to visit, to say the least, with gigantic billboards, the M&M store, and people performing street acts. In addition, it is one of the top free things to do in NYC at night! While most native New Yorkers avoid Times Square, it's fun to experience the city's never-ending energy.

4. Brooklyn Bridge

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, one of New York City's most renowned sights, is one of the greatest ways to take it all in. The bridge was the world's longest suspension bridge when it was completed in 1883. The National Park Service has already designated the Brooklyn Bridge as a National Historic Landmark and it is one of the best spots to view the city skyline. Don’t forget to take photos there while enjoying the views!

5. Statue of Liberty

The closest you can get to the Statue of Liberty without paying a penny is by taking the free Staten Island Ferry! You can stand at the front and back of the ferry while it is moving to get a great view of the Statue of Liberty and the beautiful NYC skyline. The ferry is mostly for commuters, but that does not prevent anyone else from using it. The ferry has been running since 1905 and its route spans New York Harbour.

6. Chelsea NYC Art Galleries

If you’re an art enthusiast, you’ll definitely enjoy this little trip to the Chelsea New York Art Galleries! Since the 1990s, the Chelsea gallery scene has become synonymous with the New York art world. There are dozens of galleries in this district, including some of the world's best as well as up-and-coming galleries. Some of the famous galleries there include David Zwirner, Hauser & Wirth New York, and Marianne Boesky Gallery.

There are still plenty of exciting places to visit in New York, but the ones listed above are the most interesting ones! The USA, in general, has many nice places to visit on a budget. But for now, while in NYC, don’t forget to check out all the iconic libraries there as well!
