The bus and tram networks are comprehensive and cover almost the entire region. There are 17 tram lines and 50 bus routes, 11 bus routes operate at night from midnight until 3 am. Electronic smart cards are used instead of tickets and give you access to any of the 3 networks: metro, bus, or tram; these typically cost around 20 EUR a month with a student discount. Public transport in Brussels also includes a shared taxi service as well as a public bicycle-sharing programme.
