Why Book Student Accommodation in Jacó?

A lush, mountainous shoreline with strips of sandy beaches overlooking a sparkling expanse of blue is characteristic of the Central Pacific coast. The region is home to the popular small seaside town of Jacó which lies to the north of Manuel Antonio National Park. The town is known for its hidden beaches, sportfishing, excellent surfing spots, and its unique position between the dry northern regions of the country and the tropical southern zone. Between the natural beauty and the luxury accommodations, it’s no surprise Jacó is swiftly developing into a major tourist attraction. Whether you’re looking for a secluded hilltop hideaway, a family-friendly ocean resort, or a top surfing destination, the Central Pacific Coast may provide just what you’re looking for.

Student Life

Is Jacó safe?

It can be said that Jacó is very safe and can be enjoyed at anytime. However, going to the beach at night is not recommended. It is dark and could be dangerous to swim in the ocean at night. Other than that, anyone would feel safe walking along the main strip at night. There are police officers patrolling the main streets and private security guards at many private properties.

Do I need to speak Spanish to get by in Jacó?

Many locals have learned to speak some English. But, of course, some basic Spanish at your end would help.

Are there things to do in Jacó other than going to the beach?

Of course. There is a wide variety of fun things to do in Jacó during your stay. These include exceptional adventure tours and excursions, incredible nightlife, a wide variety of restaurants and beach cafes, beautiful rental villas with pools and more.

Must-Visit Places in Jacó

Carara National Park is a birdwatcher’s paradise on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. It is well-known for the endangered scarlet macaw population that can be found living within the tropical forest and other tropical birds. Originally created as a biological reserve, Carara was upgraded to a national park in 1998. Travellers can see both the three and two-toed sloth within the park as well as the famous Crocodile Bridge overlooking Tarcoles River, where wild crocodiles – some as large as 16 feet in length – can be observed in their natural setting from the bridge. There are two hiking trails in the park: the 2.7-mile Laguna Meandrica Trail and 0.6-mile Araceas Nature Trail. The walking trails are accessible for kids and travellers with disabilities.

In Bijagual, a mountain town near Jacó, Bijagual Waterfall is the main attraction. The most popular way to experience the 590-foot waterfall is on a guided horseback riding tour. Be on the lookout for wildlife such as frogs, monkeys, toucans, sloths, and scarlet macaws and enjoy views overlooking the Pacific Ocean and seaside fishing villages.

Finally, go to the Aerial Nature Walk to have yourself a bird’s eye view of a tropical rainforest. This 3-hour-long tour will allow you to see the rainforest from a height, with the bark and the treetops. Literally gliding above the rainforest, the tram can house a small group of about 10 people. The aerial tram is just like a fenced balcony, and you can have a clear view of the rainforest below. You can also explore the plant gardens and exhibits.

Transportation in Jacó

Since Jacó is a small beach town, it has no exclusive public transportation services. However, taxi, bus, and mini-bus services are available and they serve the town on a regular daily schedule. Transportation by bus is the least expensive way to travel around Costa Rica in general. On holidays, more frequent service is offered. In the area's busiest season, which is December through April, it's a good idea to purchase weekend and public holiday tickets at least three days in advance.

Taxi services are also available in Jacó, and all taxis have metres. There is also some ferry transportation, but it is limited.
