Vilnius is a relatively cheap city. Despite being a capital city and a fast-growing metropolitan, Vilnius remains affordable for students to live and study there. You need an average of 500 EUR per month to cover most of your living expenses, including food, clothes, transportation, leisure, and even accommodation if you manage to get a good and affordable deal. 

Is Vilnius A Good Place to Live?

Transportation in Vilnius

There are several ways for you to get around in Vilnius. The city has multiple means of transportation that connect different parts of the city together as well as connect Vilnius with other Lithuanian and European cities. There are a couple of car-sharing services available in Vilnius, one of which only rents electric vehicles, which are abundantly available in Vilnius with tens of charging stations spread out across city grounds, while the other rents cars, bicycles, or motorcycles. Car-sharing services users get free parking, fuel, and insurance; they are only required to pay for the time of usage and the distance travelled. Car-sharing services allow for both long and short-term rentals and are activated via a mobile app. Buses are another way to get around the city; the Vilnius bus network is made up of over 250 buses and 260 trolleybuses with around 100 different routes. Short-term and long-term bus tickets are available and can be bought on board, from shops, or at newspaper stands. The ticket prices range from 0.65 to 1.00 EUR with student discounts being available for you to make use of. Vilnius is serviced by an airport with flights to major European cities; it has 50 different destinations in 25 countries. There’s also a railway system and multiple motorways connecting Vilnius to other cities in Lithuania and Europe in general.

Lithuania’s capital, Vilnius, is a beautiful city known for its architecture and culture. There are several places that are worth visiting in this city that you should stop by at least once during your stay there. The city’s most notable attractions include The Bastion of Vilnius City Wall, which is a museum telling the story and depicting the history of Lithuania’s defence practices and weaponry. Vilnius’ National Gallery of Art is a multifunctional arts and cultural centre showcasing collections of Lithuanian artwork, such as paintings, sculptures, graphics, photographs, and illustrations among others. The city’s five-century old landmark, the Church of St. Anne, is the most beautiful, most famous, and most visited attraction in Vilnius. It’s a free-entrance attraction that harbours a lot of history and is considered a symbol of the city. Another historic and architectural attraction in Vilnius is The Cathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus and St. Ladislaus, which is located in the heart of the city and houses the Church Heritage Museum, exploring the history of the place. The Hill of The Three Crosses is a national Vilnius monument that’s 12-metre tall and considered a symbol of national identity.
