Why Study at Boomsatsuma College, Bristol

Boomsatsuma College was founded in 2011 to provide children and young people in the West of England with the finest quality arts and creative possibilities. It works with young people in North Somerset and South Wiltshire and has received funding from the Youth Investment Fund to produce boombox mobile youth provision. The college is at the forefront of improving the quality of work with, for, and by children and young people, and they were invited to be one of the organizations testing the Arts Council's Quality Principles for work with Children and Young People by Laura Gander-Howe, the Head of Learning at Arts Council England.

Boomsatsuma College was the largest single employer of creative apprentices and interns in the South West in 2015, and their strategy of youth empowerment has resulted in young people-led business units building arts enterprise in Bridgwater Arts Centre and for the BANES Arts Development team.

Boomsatsuma College has grown into a highly successful video production unit, Boomsatsuma Productions, which employs a crew of experienced filmmakers to create corporate sales, information, and third-sector videos, with revenues flowing back into our work with young people.

Departments and Divisions 

Boomsatsuma College offers autonomous creative media and acting courses for post-secondary students in Bristol and is a well-known training provider credited for changing the face of post-secondary creative education in the city. People from all walks of life can pursue employment in the expanding creative industries through training and education courses ranging from 16-year-old Level 3 Diplomas to a Bachelor's degree. 

Degree Courses include BA (Hons) Documentary Photography and Print, BA (Hons) Filmmaking (Pathways): Production & Post-Production, BA (Hons) Game Art, and BA (Hons) Game Audio.

College Courses include Creative and Digital Media, Film and Television, Sports Media Production, Games, VR and VFX, Dance, Professional Acting, Bristol, and Professional Acting, Oxford. 

Bristol School of Acting courses include (BA Hons) Acting for Screen, (BA Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen, Foundation Year in Acting, Extended Diploma Professional Acting, Bristol, and Extended Diploma Professional Acting, Oxford.

Facilities and Resources

Boomsatsuma College made long-lasting partnerships with lots of companies to provide the best facilities and to build the best creative spaces for all of its students. Some of the tons of the facilities that Boomsatsuma College offers to its students are The Royal Photographic Society which has a comprehensive education program and the public can attend exhibitions, talks, symposia, and workshops at their gallery and auditorium in Paintworks, Bristol, as well as venues across the UK, overseas, and online. There is also The Bottle Yard Studios which is the West of England's largest dedicated film and television studio, with eight stages, a massive green screen studio, workshops, production offices, and a variety of other production locations. More than 20 on-site business tenants provide a variety of professional services, including creative, digital, technical, and audio/visual expertise, grips, transportation, structural, fire, and safety support. 

In addition, among the tenants at Engine Shed are Boomsatsuma and SETsquared Bristol, a tech incubator. Entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics, students, the city, and the council can collaborate and develop by using coworking and private offices, as well as meeting and event facilities. Films@59 offers personalized, adaptable, and creative solutions that help our clients realize their creative goals. Whether it's a one-minute commercial, a 12-hour television series, or a feature film, Films@59 will help you throughout the way.
