Stafford House Cambridge Student Accommodation
Homestay Accommodation: If you want to get a true taste of British culture by staying in one of the homestay accommodations, you must notify the school four weeks before your arrival so that they can find you a suitable homestay.
You will be treated as if you were a family member, and you should show respect to the host. This means you must follow the host's rules, such as arriving on time for meals and refraining from smoking in the house. Homestays can range from a single individual to an elderly couple or a family with young children. Each homestay is distinct and operates on its own timetable. Simply ask your host or come speak with a member of the student services team if you have any questions.
Breakfast is included during the week, dinner is included in the evening, and all meals are included on weekends, depending on what you have booked with Stafford House. If you want to eat a lot of fruit or other snacks in addition to the meals provided, you should buy them yourself and ask the host if you can keep them in the fridge or cupboard.
You'll be able to use the bath or shower at least once a day, but because most UK homes only have one bathroom, you'll have to work around the rest of the family's schedule. Some hosts make it mandatory for students to use the restroom at specific times, while others do not (for example not late at night). A towel will be provided, but you must buy your own soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and other toiletries.
The homestay accommodation will do laundry at least once a week. They'll show you how to operate the machine and where to place your clothes. Towels and bed linen are provided by the host and are changed once a week.
Stafford House Residence: Adult students can stay in the school’s Varsity House Residence in single en-suite rooms. Varsity House, which is only a 20-minute walk from the school and the city centre, is an excellent choice for any student looking to get a taste of Cambridge life.
