Founded in 1839, the origins of the College of St Hild and St Bede come from the foundation of two separate teaching training colleges: The Durham Diocesan Training School for the Education of Schoolmasters (later to become Bede College) and the Durham Diocesan Female Training School (which would become Hild College). This Durham riverside College is spread out over sixteen acres of parkland along the northern bank of the Wear just as it runs into the heart of the City.
