Why Study at the University of Suffolk?

The University of Suffolk is a public university in the English counties of Suffolk and Norfolk. It was formerly known as University Campus Suffolk (UCS), a modern university launched in 2007 as a unique cooperation between the University of East Anglia and the University of Essex. 

The university's current name was chosen after the Privy Council granted it independence and university status in 2016. The University of Suffolk comprises four campuses: a central hub in Ipswich, as well as campuses in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft, and Great Yarmouth that focus on foundation courses. In the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2019, the university was listed in the top ten for Courses and Lecturers.

Departments and Divisions

The University of Suffolk offers students many learning options, including undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing professional development, and apprenticeships. Undergraduate courses include BA (Hons) Accounting and Financial Management, BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing, and BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science with Foundation Year, among others. As for postgraduate courses, they include Postgraduate Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MSc Advanced Clinical Practice, MA Childhood Studies…etc. CPD/Short courses are plenty, they include Build and Maintain Your Own Web Page, Getting Started with WordPress, and Professional Director Series. Apprenticeships are available on campus, and the areas of apprenticeship include BSc (Hons) Cyber Security Technical Professional, BA (Hons) Social Work (Degree Apprenticeship), BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering [degree apprenticeship]...etc. 

Facilities and Resources

The university offers its students plenty of facilities and services for the ultimate student experience. Academic facilities include a large auditorium, lecture and seminar rooms, study spaces, a café and the Student Centre. Other amenities include clinical laboratories, sports and exercise laboratories, specialist bioscience teaching and research facilities, art studios, a virtual environment radiotherapy training suite,  3D productivity suite, and laboratories for Psychology, Games Design, Network and Software Engineering. The campus has a library with plenty of resources and study areas students can benefit from. The university offers accommodation options and social spaces for students.

There are many halls of residence for students at the University of Suffolk. These include Athena Hall among others. It offers cluster flats, ensuites, and studios. The rooms feature double beds, workspaces, wardrobes, ensuite bathrooms, private living areas, and a private kitchenette. The residence has plenty of amenities and services such as all-inclusive bills, a common social room, fully-furnished rooms, laundry facilities, secure bike storage, and Wi-Fi throughout.
