Birkbeck, University of London was founded in 1823 when Dr John Birkbeck spoke about the importance of educating working people. Support after Dr John Birkbeck’s speech led to a change which allowed craftsmen and artisans to learn about science, art, and economics for the first time. One month after Dr John Birkbeck’s speech, the London Mechanics Institute was founded, which became the basis of the current university. It wasn’t until 1920 that Birkbeck officially became part of the University of London, which is still the case today.

ONCAMPUS London offers various program options for undergraduate and postgraduate students; these include the undergraduate foundation program (UFP), the University of London International Foundation Program, International Year One (IY1), and the Pre-Master’s Program.
Undergraduate Foundation Program (UFP)
The Undergraduate Foundation Program is a three-term program allowing students to progress to their undergraduate studies upon completion. The UFP program is set at the same level as the UK’s A levels. UFP also allows its students to choose between various study pathways, which include:

99 Gower Street Building
Recently ONCAMPUS London has moved to a new building on 99 Gower Street, moving some of its functions from Birkbeck to their new space; however, Birkbeck still has ONCAMPUS’s main teaching space in London. This new building has a reception, meeting rooms, classrooms, and spaces for staff. It is also near many of the University of London’s colleges, which include UCL, Birkbeck, SOAS, and LSE. Students studying at ONCAMPUS London can benefit from all the University of London’s facilities.
Personal Tutor
All students enrolled in the ONCAMPUS London program will have access to a personal tutor to oversee their academic progress. Additionally, your personal tutor will assist you with any question or difficulty you may face and also direct you to the appropriate resources when needed. These personal tutors will also be part of your everyday classes. You can also use the help of the Centre’s Head and the Deputy Centre’s Head. The Student Recruitment and Support Officer and Curriculum Information Officer can also provide guidance and support.
Other Staff Support
Additionally, ONCAMPUS London can assist you with visa-related issues and requirements, which include renewing your student visa. The ONCAMPUS London Central Admissions will provide proof of enrollment until you can renew your visa application. You can also get involved with the staff by joining as student representatives and ambassadors. The student council helps voice student concerns to the staff and link students to the staff. ONCAPUS London’s staff also support those with disabilities to achieve their educational goals while ensuring they meet all of their non-academic needs.
Birkbeck Library
Birkbeck Library has various facilities and resources, including books in print and digital form, access to computers where you can browse various digital resources such as articles and chapters and other forms of e-publications, including e-journals, all part of the library’s online database. The library also provides various tailored services and resources to assist you better, which include library disability and dyslexia services, browsing past examination papers, and help finding specific material for your subject area, among various other services.
