St George's, University of London (officially St George's Hospital Medical School, unofficially St George's or SGUL) is a constituent institution of the University of London, located in Tooting, South London. St George's was the second institution in England to conduct official training courses for doctors, having opened in 1733, after the University of Oxford. Soon after the University of London was founded in 1836, St George's became affiliated with it.
St George's is one of the United Hospitals and is closely associated with St George's Hospital. It’s the only UK university based in a hospital (St George’s Hospital). This is also where the Channel 4 television series 24 hours in A&E is filmed).

Facilities and Resources
St George’s offers a dedicated Students' Union with a recently refurbished bar and social rooms, in addition to having the most up-to-date educational facilities.
In and around St George's, there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Two Pret coffee shops, one M&S shop and café, two Peabody's cafés, and one restaurant are all located on the premises. There are also three shops: M&S, the Students' Union store, and Whistle Stop, so you won't have to go far to get anything you need.
The St George's Students' Union (SGSU) hosts a variety of events, such as fancy dress discos and Rag Week, an annual series of fund-raising activities. In recent years, the Union has become more politically aware and has taken a larger interest in the activities of the National Union of Students and the British Medical Association.
The Henry Gray Anatomical Society, St George's Surgical Society, Clinical Neuroscience Society, Cardiology Society, and Pediatrics Society are just a few of the student-run societies at St George's that focus on various aspects of academia. Cultural organizations such as the Association of Chinese and British University Students (ABACUS), the Afro-Caribbean Society, and the Arab Society cater to various portions of the student population. Religious groups include the Islamic Society and the Christian Union.
Many student groups at St George's produce yearly performances, mostly focused on dancing and singing. Some of these groups include the Diwali Show, Fashion Show, Tooting Show, St George's Revue, and the Musical Society.
Sports Facilities: St. George's Hospital Medical School RFC, founded in 1863, is one of the world's oldest rugby clubs.
St George's also boasts a variety of other sports clubs that compete in various tournaments, including Muay Thai, swimming, rowing, cheerleading, volleyball, fencing, football, netball, hockey, and many others. Because St George's is a member of the United Hospitals, the teams participate in separate contests alongside the University of London's five other medical schools and Imperial College's.
St George's, University of London Student Accommodation
St George’s has 332 standard rooms and London student residence (with a single bed) and 154 premium rooms (with a small double bed).
On-site laundry facilities are available, as well as internet access in each room and a secure reception area maintained 24 hours a day. On site, you will find a mix of single and mixed gender units that are clustered around a lovely central courtyard. Students can relax and meet friends in each block's common area, which has comfy chairs and a large plasma-screen television.
A local bus service, running every 20 minutes, serves the halls and drops off right outside the university’s main entrance. There are bicycle storage facilities on-site, and limited parking is also available. If the number of students requesting parking exceeds the number of spaces available, parking is allocated by ballot. After the main arrivals weekend in September, the ballot is held.
Accessibility: Horton Hall is wheelchair accessible, and the institution also has accommodations for students with other disabilities or chronic illnesses. St George’s will exert every effort to accommodate anyone with special access requirements. Students will be asked to provide supporting medical evidence to support any application for an adapted room.
Show Flats: In Horton Halls, there are two show flats, one regular and one premium. Throughout the year, these flats are used for open days and offer holder days as a way for prospective students and visitors to see the university housing.
Students can apply for a room in one of the show flats. If you live in one of these rooms, you must keep the flat and your bedroom neat and tidy both before and after the visits.
If you are assigned a room in a show flat, you will be asked to sign a contract with more information and you will be provided with the event dates. Both show flats will be on the ground floor or lower level.
