Facilities and Resources
Padworth College is located on a 12-acre piece of land in West Berkshire. Students have access to a variety of learning resources on campus.
Class numbers are small, allowing students to fully participate in discussions, debates, and inquiries. There are three specialized science laboratories where you can use experiments and tests to apply scientific theories taught in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics classes.
Outside of class, you can unwind in Padworth House's library and vast social facilities, such as Stables Common Room. Wi-Fi is available throughout the college. If you're feeling sporty, you can play basketball or tennis in the college’s on-campus Multi Use Games Area. There is a variety of fitness equipment accessible in the on-campus Fitness Suite, and during the summer months, the heated outdoor swimming pool is open for use in the evenings and on weekends.
Sport
Students participate in PE (physical education) twice a week, playing a variety of sports, including football, badminton, tennis, basketball, rugby, volleyball, netball, and ultimate frisbee.
The weekend programme also includes sports, as well as additional activities such as yoga, table tennis, and walks in the local area.
Students can use the College's well-equipped Fitness Center, which includes a free weights section, resistance machines, a treadmill, and a resistance bike, during supervised periods in the evenings or weekends. On-site, there is also a 20-meter open-air swimming pool that is open throughout the Summer Term and is highly popular with students on hot, sunny days.
The College hosts inter-house sporting activities each semester. Each student is assigned to one of four athletic houses: Burghfield, Aldermaston, Tadley, and Mortimer. Points are accumulated from various events throughout the year, and the winner receives a trophy on Speech Day. Each term, there are also informal staff vs student tournaments, which are highly popular.
The college’s PSHE programme also includes health education, such as diet, fitness, and well-being.
Padworth College Student Accommodation
Boarding students live on campus in one of four boarding homes: Fison, Granary, Ritz, or Stables, which are divided into boys' and girls' houses. The boarding houses all include kitchens and common rooms for students to use, as well as laundry facilities nearby. Almost every student benefits from having their own single study room, which provides privacy while remaining a member of the boarding home family. The bedrooms are clean, comfy, and well-furnished. Each house has between 15 and 40 kids.
