On September 2, 1878, Creighton College was established as a gift from Mary Lucretia Creighton. She stipulated in her will that a school be established in memory of her husband, prominent Omaha businessman Edward Creighton. John A. Creighton, Edward's brother, is credited with fostering and sustaining the university's early growth and endowment. Creighton Preparatory Schools and Creighton University were formed from the college in 1958.

Graduates have unparalleled access to real-world opportunities, including research, as early as the first year and top academics.
