All over the world, young generations are greatly interested in designing and drawing graffiti and street art. As popular as they’re, the UK wasn’t excluded from the equation. Youths use graffiti art to express their point of view about specific topics, from politics and economics to public opinion matters and general assertion on their unique identity.
“Art is a way of survival.” Yoko Ono said, enforcing how we can express our inner feelings and thoughts as well as our globally-important opinions through art.
Across the UK, there’re many spots where you can see authentic street art and graffiti to understand some these notions. Here are some of the best places for street art in the UK:
Leake Street Tunnel, Waterloo in London
Underneath Waterloo station, a 300-meter tunnel is utterly blanketed with London street art and vibrant graffitis. It was illegal to spray in there till Banksy, an international street art legend. 7 years ago, set out a Festival of Cans and spraying was legalised. Banksy street art in London is well-recognised, especially his artwork near the Barbican Centre.
Other than Banksy, London street artists names include James Cochran, Andy Council and Darren Cullen.
Other Legal Graffiti Walls List in London are:
- Ally Pally
- Tufnell Park
- Stockwell Skatepark
- Stockwell
- Tottenham
- Crouch End
- Plaistow
- End Of The Line Project
- Mile End
- Southbank Graffiti

Bristol Street Art
You cannot really name it as a street-art-city; however, you can find street art and graffiti in certain areas like Stokes Croft and Nelson Street. The former acted as the location of Bristol’s first street art festival: “See no Evil”. You can try Banksy Walking Tour if you want to see every piece of random art Banksy worked on.
Head to the courtyard of The Canteen to watch some of the most iconic Bristol street art series: Breakdancing Jesus by Cosmo Sarson. He is one of the well-known Bristol street artists who took part in Upfest 2016 and has artworks in Bedminster in Bristol too.
