The UK is well-known for its diversity, and this makes it the perfect place for blending in and feeling a sense of belonging wherever you are from. All its cities have their own greatest days out and offer the best UK student experience. Check these best weekend student activities in the UK that you can try with like-minded students:
1. Visit the Stonehenge in Amesbury
It is one of the most sought-after UK attractions for adults. International students in the UK usually plan to visit the ancient group of standing rough-cut stones with some more than 20 feet high and are arranged in two concentric circles. If you are into historical sightseeing and ancient landmarks explorations, try planning weekend trips with your student accommodation flatmates in the UK.
Bonus tip: Considering that Bath is less than an hour drive from Amesbury, most visitors tend to go to The Roman Baths in Bath afterwards. Going to both on the same day will make it one of the best student weekend trips ever!
2. Go to Chester Zoo in Chester
Visiting this Zoo is ranked as one of the 10 best activities to do in the UK for students. It gives them the chance to see more than 500 different species of animals. They have some packages for exploring the Zoo that you can go for with your Chester student accommodation mates. You can also hit the gift shop there and get your family some souvenirs.
3. Go Kayaking around the UK
This is one of the most adventurous things to do in England. You and your student accommodation mates can try kayaking down the River Thames in London as it is one of the top-notch things to do in London. You will be able to see all major sites by the river, like the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, and all the major bridges. But this is doable in other places, so no wonder it is considered one of the best outdoor activity breaks in the UK. Students accommodating in Durham can hit the Tees River in Durham to kayak and call it a well-spent weekend. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is also perfect for student residing in student accommodation in Glasgow, as it is only an hour drive away.
4. Hunt Student Events in the UK
Like any other major country, the UK has its own local, as well as international, events all-year-round. In order to catch up, try following up with all the student-related events in the UK that your university promotes and recommends for its students.
In November 2018 in the UK, you can go for Diwali - The Festival of Lights. It is marked in several UK cities, like Leicester. It has traditional food, music, dancing, and fireworks. It starts with the 7:30 pm switch-on of around 6500 multicoloured lights followed by a confetti explosion and cheers.
There is also the Frozen Island’s Pop-Up Cinema in Covent Garden, opening on November 11th with regular tickets starting from around £20. It has festive film screenings in a wintery setting to put you in the festive mood.
